- Sliding Iran -
OVERVIEW
“Sliding Iran” (working title) is the newest mountain culture documentary to be produced in tandem by German production company Blickinsfreie and b4apres Media based in Canada. The goal is to travel to this often negatively publicized country and explore the potential for skiing and snowboarding while highlighting the existing mountain culture. Established athletes as well as riders from Eastern European countries where Blickinsfreie has filmed before will set out to capture unique freestyle and big mountain riding whilst also documenting the local people's stories and culture.
Our aim is to bring young people of different cultures together through a shared passion for sliding on snow and create a film that not only appeals to a dedicated ski and snowboard demographic, but also a mainstream audience.
IRAN
Iran is an ancient place that has was once part of the Persian Empire. Geographically diverse with tropical forests, high desserts and rugged mountain ranges. The Caucasus, Zagros and Alborz Mountains of which Mount Damavand (5,610m/18,406 ft) is the highest make Iran one of the most mountainous countries on the planet. It has 8 functioning ski resorts and a culture few westerns think to explore. Iran is a country where it's politics overshadow the the true nature of the people and the aesthetic beauty of the landscape and we intend to focus our lens on these sides more often unseen.
PRODUCTION PARTNERS
Blickinsfreie is a film, photo and art production house founded by René Eckert in 2007. Over the last four years Blickinsfreie has successfully produced 4 snowboard documentaries:
2007 “Poland – A snowboard documentary”
2008 “Slovaki – A true movie about snowboarding”
2009 “From Romania with Love”
2010 “Bulgaria – At Equilibrium”
Blickinsfreie has grown into a recognized, independent production company with numerous successful sport and corporate movies as well as several documentaries and shorts that were successfully screened at various film festivals and distributed worldwide.
b4apres Media was initiated by Anthony Bonello with the sole vision of bringing together talented individuals who share a common aim to creatively merge mountain pursuits with honest journalism. b4apres' debut film “AZADI:Freedom”, set in the disputed region of Kashmir, won numerous awards, toured the globe on the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour and was recently purchased for broadcasting on French television.

OUTPUT & DISTRIBUTION
Alongside coverage through our media partners the film will be presented on a worldwide premiere tour taking advantage of Blickinsfreie's European and Eastern European networks and b4apre's North American network. It will be submitted to numerous banner mountain film festivals as well as mainstream documentary film festivals.
The film will be available via digital download and on DVD.
